September 8, 2015. Report from the present owner.
Toldboden's Tuesday evening classic car event in Copenhagen harbor was to become a very special event for me. After many years, my "Number One dream" came true...
After (approx.) 33 years, first owner Erik Brandt (dressed in light blue shirt on above picture) was reunited with the car. Suddenly he stood there, looking at her, together with his new lady friend and their dog. He was very pleased to see it again, and soon started telling some really funny stories & anecdotes about its life in the "fast lane" (some can not be posted here) as they included wild parties - models - etc. He also told stories about the famous pop stars they knew and that it was after he saw one of their Wood &Pickett Mini's that he wanted to own one too. He was back to visit Wood &Pickett’s Park Royal premises at Abbey Road at least one time during the period it took them to personalise the car.
1973 and 1974 were Wood & Pickett's best years, so there was a long cue of clients waiting for their cars to be finished, but the Brandt's had shops and a flat in London, so Park Royal was nearby. Later on, the car was taken back to Denmark to enter a posh life in the high society, with chauffeur in white uniform & all. Mr. Brandt also gave me some new information; the car was not sold when they moved to New York, it was parked in the garage and kept there unsold until 1983/84.
